It's that time of year again where I find myself thinking about this past year and everything that has happened. I can truly say that 2011 has been an incredibly blessed and humbling year for me. I moved, got my first job in a studio, and found myself working with talent from places in the industry I can only dream of. I feel grateful to have met people that have both inspired, and mentored me. I recognize 2011 as a time of major growth and development for me and my work and, plan for 2012 to be the application of that growth into my life. I plan to push myself to create not just stronger single fashion images but, clear conceptual stories with better technical ability and more refinement. The beginning of a new year always lights a fire inside of me, and I'm walking into this year with a list of very clear goals and a can do attitude. I wish you all the best, and hope you have a blessed and inspired New Year.

I've been messing around with the video settings lately as a way to document things (such as our casting trips for work), luckily I work with a video genius (Adam Hand) who edits all my short recordings into cool little videos. The following is a short clip of my recordings from our casting trip to LA.

Ethan James Green is the latter of the two. I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Ethan when he was on my set as model for work. We got to talking about photography, and I found out that his true passion wasn't modeling... but shooting. My life lately has been filled with a lot of lesson learning. I find that being a photographer is as much about dealing with people/different personalities, as it is taking photographs. I kind of laugh when I think about how young and foolishly arrogant I was even earlier this year, and wonder where I will find myself in another year. I'm grateful to have the job I have, and work with the amazing people that I do. I owe so much of my growth to those people, it humbles me. I try not to take things for granted, and hope to continue embracing all lessons that come to me.

This is Theron. Theron is a fellow coworker of mine at myhabit.com. Starting in August he plans to journey across America in 365 days, and photograph one person every day along his journey. When I think about the scope of this project it blows mind. It's an enourmous to take an entire year of your life and dedicate to traveling (sleeping out of your car, and eating for 5$ a day) the entire United States to photographically tell the story of others. I hope that everyone who reads this can take 5 mins, and $5 and make a contribution to what I'm sure is going to be an amazing project.

I found these gems while antique shopping with my mom in Covington, Kentucky. Pinup noodie 5x7 playing cards? I'm gonna buy the whole deck eventually.. but I had to bring these two home. I've always been drawn to 50's/60's pinup, and I find the aesthetic often influences my own styling/shooting. These will be framed and hung in my apartment for constant inspiration.

Everyone I spend time with is an artist.. mostly animators, and graphic designers. I am the only person out of my group of friends that is a photographer (who doesn't draw constantly). Sketch booking has always been a very important and personal part of my creativity... however I can't draw. When I say I can't draw.. it isn't some cute attempt to be humble... I really can't. My freshman year at Ringling my drawing professor quit trying to teach me half way through them semester. He gave me a C just so I didn't have to go through the embarrassment of taking it again. But anyway... my point is since I don't use sketchbooks in a conventional way they take a different more personal form for me. That being said I thought it may be cool to post a few sketch book pages..

The cute little doodles (little toast man, and sassy diva lady) are drawn by Lindsey. Usually while we are out and about and she is drawing on napkins.

Had a great BRINK mag shoot today! I shot at Matt Plunkett's studio in Downtown LA. I got to work with a great new group of people. Brooke came and styled, Maria & Diana were my makeup and hair team, and they all rocked it! Had awesome boyfriend style wardrobe from Feltraiger. Also, I think it's only natural that Lindsey appear in any project I'm doing (since shes my lifetime muse), so that was a treat. Today was her birthday.. HAPPY BIRTHDAY LINDSEY! \I also had the pleasure of having Anthony Giantto on set with some AMAZING jewelry and watches... the entire time Lindsey and I both tried not to think about the $60,000 diamond necklace she was wearing (we're both a bit clumsy), which helped us both not freak out and scream.

As the new year approaches I am forced to think about this passing year, and thinking about everything that has happened makes my head spin. A 3 year relationship ended, a new one began and ended, I lost 30 pounds, I hit rock bottom, I climbed out, I met a someone who has forever impacted me as a person, I started shooting for BRINK, I met models who made my soul feel alive (Haley I'm talking to you), I learned what I was made of, I took a leap of faith left the comfort of home and came to LA , I refound Lindsey. There is already much potential in store for 2011, including a possible job offer. I have much faith that this year will be beautiful for me, as I hope it will be for all of you.

So for 2011 BRINK magazine is slowing things down and going quarterly. This is mainly because Kyle (editor in chief) really wants to regroup, refocus and make BRINK the best it's ever been. SO, the next issue will be out in FEB, and I'm currently gathering ideas etc for the upcoming GET THE LOOK feature. I was totally pumped to hook up with Ann Raymond of Second Look, and now I'm more pumped to get together with designer Daniel Feldman of Feltraiger. Feltraiger is a bad ass up-incoming line...for all you fashion savvy youngsters check it out.

I immediately fell in love with her refurbed one of kind vintage pieces, and knew I had to find a way to incorporate them into my fashion shooting. "You're really particular with your work. Deliberate with what you shoot and how and the setting and all that jazz. And the film gives it some grit where its not always perfect. And those "mistakes" as you call them, it adds a cool juxtaposition. I like seeing how everyone's work...(the people still putting in the work haha) is becoming more mature now we're out of school. I think in a lot of ways our need to be competitive in school can hinder growth. Its like we're trying to flex our muscles rather than make an image that says something personal. So yeah, I think youre working that way. You can make a strong image...you know that. So it becomes something more when you move in a direction that is fun for you, you know what i mean? It's more honest."
